This is the largest and most famous fountain. It was designed by Nicola Salvi and was completed in 1762. It is was designed so that visitors would always hear the fountain before they were able to see it. For that reason it is difficult to take a reasonable photograph of the fountain with a normal lensed camera. The main figures are Neptune with two Tritons, one trying to control a wild sea-horse, the other a calmer animal. These represent the two contrasting moods of the sea.
